Be adds 7,000 subscribers in Q3

13th November 2007

Be has added over 7,000 customers for its broadband service during the third quarter, newly released figures reveal.

The ISP’s subscriber base has now expanded from 31,000 in June 2007 to 38,400, according to data from the firm’s parent company O2.

Meanwhile, the firm has now unbundled 814 exchanges for use with the broadband provider’s "up to 24Mbps’ ADSL2+ service, O2 announced.

News of Be’s performance comes after O2’s chief executive Peter Erskine last week said that the broadband-enabled Apple iPhone, for which the telecommunications firm was granted an exclusivity deal in the UK, is the "fastest-selling device we have ever seen".

Mr Erskine added: "It sold in the tens of thousands but not as many as 100,000. We have hundreds of thousands more coming into stock over the coming weeks, and demand and interest are huge. We had three times as many customers coming into our stores as usual."
