Be launches security service for broadband users

7th December 2007

Customers of broadband provider Be will be able to harness their internet connection to make their home more secure, it has been announced.

The Be home monitor service comprises a wireless camera that connects to the Be broadband service, Ispreview.co.uk reports. The motion-sensor camera will then record any activity it detects and alert the homeowner either by email, text message or a picture sent by MMS text.

Users can then verify if there has been a break-in by accessing their online account and watching the footage recorded by the camera.

News of the launch of the security service comes as Be last month announced that it has added over 7,000 new customers during the third quarter.

The influx of new business meant that the firm, which is owned by telecommunications giant O2, now has 38,400 customers - up from 31,000 in June this year.
