Namesco provide services for both business and domestic customers, so in creating a range of packages designed especially for internet use in the home you can be sure that these packages will be carefully constructed with your needs in mind. Bronze is Namesco’s most basic package and is designed with beginners in mind. If you’ve never used broadband, or the internet, before and you’re daunted by the number of contracts available then this is the package for you. With a low cost contract of £10.95 per month and a short minimum term contract of 30 days this is a low-commitment option. The package includes: - Free router – recieve a free router and two line filters with this package. A connection fee of £35.25 applies - 512Kb connection speed – suitable if you use the internet fairly infrequently and are happy with a fairly slow speed and do not wish to download large files - 1GB monthly download allowance – this is how much you’ll be able to download each and every month. 1Gb is most suitable for the casual user. If you require a bigger capacity you can add extra bandwidth to this package by choosing from five options ranging from 10GB to 100GB. - Free online security – anti-virus scanning and spam filtering - 1 free email address – fine for a single person household Another reason why Namesco is perfect for the broadband novice is that they have UK-based customer support manned 7 days a week. The Silver package is most suited to an intermediate broadband user, however with Namesco’s fantastic customer support, it is by no means necessary to have experience of broadband to make the most of this package. This package is designed for households with a small number of people requiring internet access. This package costs £12.95 per month and once again is only subject to a 30 day contract, so if you want to upgrade your package after a month or end your contract, you are welcome to. For the additional £3 per month you’ll receive a number of additional features not found in the Bronze package. Firstly you’ll save money as the router comes free with the deal and there is no connection charge. Technically, the Silver package is more advanced with faster speeds up to 2Mb. Once again you can choose an extra download package from 10GB to 100GB for an extra cost. You can also buy an additional 1GB for just £1 (or £1.20 dependent on which option you choose) as and when you need to.

If you’ve got a larger family or just want more from your broadband then Gold is the package for you. One of the major advantages of this package is the increased speed of the connection, at 8Mb you will definitely be able to feel the difference and it may be worth the extra cost for speeds 4x faster than those available on the Silver package. Additionally, as with all the other packages, additional bandwidth is available for an extra cost, including up to 100GB per month, enabling you to download huge amounts within a month. The other benefit of the Gold package is that Namesco will offer you an optional upgrade to a static IP address for an additional £3 per month. A static IP address will allow you to keep a continuous record of your online activity by retaining the same IP number every time you use the internet.

Namesco's Platinum product offers the same options as Namesco's Silver package, however it offers a better contention ratio, i.e. 20:1 compared to the Bronze, Silver and Gold packages which over a contention ratio of 50:1. This means that you will be sharing your broadband line with less people, therefore giving you more chance of getting greater speeds and faster downloads. Almost a carbon copy of Namesco's Gold package, however with a better contention ratio. Platinum+ offers up to 8Mb with a contention ratio of 20:1 compared to Namesco's Gold package of 50:1. All this means less people will be sharing your line, which enables faster broadband speeds - obviously perfect for heavy users and businesses. As with all the other Namesco BroadbandMax packages, you can choose to have a greater download limit ranging from an extra 10GB for £5 a month to 100GB a month for £20 a month.

Customer service

Namesco pride themselves on having top-notch customer support, with a UK-based technical team on hand seven days a week who can be contacted by email or telephone, open 8am to 8pm Monday-Friday, and 10am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday. They also have a comprehensive online Questions and Answers page that should answer most of your broadband related queries.

Equipment

Namesco's broadband packages include a free ZyXEL 660R-D1 router, plus free connection (excluding the Bronze option which has a one-off connection fee of just £35.25). All packages can also be upgraded to a wireless router option for just £29.99 ex VAT.

Set-up is simple, and Namesco will also provide 2 free Microfilters to help you get started.

Software features

You’ll feel confident that your email privacy is protected, as Namesco provides free Virus scanning and Spam filtering software on all of its broadband packages. This means Namesco’s servers will check all of your emails automatically for viruses, so you can be sure that you’re not accepting any files that might be harmful to your computer. Spam filtering also prevents any of those unwanted emails from clogging up your inbox.

Email features

All Namesco broadband packages come with a free email address included, and as it’s webmail, you can access you account from anywhere in the world. Getting organised is easy too, as the Namesco email account also helps you to manage your contacts, as well as arranging your online group lists.

Namesco also provide a free web page option to all of its broadband customers, and will even help you design your site with free layouts and colour options.

Company history

Namesco was originally two companies, both of whom were internet service providers and domain name registers. Both Names.co.uk and WebCall.com were established in the mid 1990s. The merger took place in 2000 and the joint company have continued to grow in size and strength since this.

A particularly instrumental step forward came in 2004 when Namesco bought out one of their top competitors Simply.com who, at that point, were managing 92,000 domain names. In 2005 Namesco acquired 10 times as many subscribers when they took over another competitor NDO.

This steady growth over the last decade demonstrates Namesco’s commitment to broadening its own horizon, and the horizons of their customers through the accessible broadband service they provide.
